This review is another shining facet of a brilliant person called Vinay Prasad. I listen to his videos and read his substacks, love them. But this essay about a book came as a surprise. Where in the world does he find time to read books?? in addition to teching, treating pts, writing books and articles and creating videos!! It is as beautifully written and very insightful, as is his scientific output.
An incredible person with so many powerful talents. Bravo, Dr Prasad!!
Well I think it might be interesting to hear a doctor’s perspective on some of the movies and TV shows featuring medical issues. There’s also a bunch of movies about pandemics and how humans react to them. Ironically, the people who create such movies were real life villains in movies they starred in about such things.
It’s part of what lead me to do writing about it myself.
I might even recommend a Hollywood movie called Sick, which came out during the pandemic and was a fictional story about CoVid. It’s a horror movie.
Also, there are a couple TV shows which got shut down due to CoVid lockdowns and when they returned, they tried to integrate CoVid into their fictional stories. I would find it interesting to know what you think and how it might be used to tell the history of the pandemic response.

Fascinating analysis of a book. Would you be doing this with other stuff? For instance, films and television shows?
Sure. What do readers want to hear about. I have binged watched it all

I read them all. Terrific recreation of life in Naples circa 60's. Can be depressing.
Dude,,,,, you sound like a girly-man. Well played LOL
I haven't read fiction much in the last several years but I may have to give this one a whirl. Thank you for the insightful review doc.
Thank you for the review. This will save me from reading novels with the same tired, hackneyed themes that have been done to death.
