I find your Substack posts invaluable, and despite being just a simple country neuropathologist I managed to come to a significant number of the same conclusions that you did concerning the lockdown, masks, the use of vaccines on inappropriate age populations, etc. If I may make one small suggestion. It is not hypocrisy to fail to measure up to Christian ideals. Nobody but Jesus himself has, or ever could, do that. It is hypocrisy to demand of others re Christian values those things which you yourself have no intention, or worse, intentionally contravene. Thanks.
The real hypocrisy is when prople in power MANDATE something (masking, vaccination, lockdown, etc) for the plebes, but don't follow it themselves.
RFK Jr. may say that McDonald's food is unhealthy, but he is not mandating anything about it. So people are free to choose, and so is he. We all do some unhealthy things once in a while.
You are the voice of reason so eloquantly displayed for those of us who truly benefit from some sanity in this chaos. While I just can't stomach watching Dr. Damania (followed him since my first days attending and A4M event) interview Dr. Offit (not my favoritte vaccine zealot), I do love watching you two banter about with subjects that matter!! Thanks for your bravery!
Vinay, A few meaning-changing typos in here that I assume you will fix over time, but this is well reasoned. The fact is that we spend more time trying to find out about someone's college prank 40 years ago than what they have done in real jobs ever since. The process is awful and misguided. Most of us do not care what you do in your personal life unless lying about it is in conflict with your job as you note. Kudos.
I liked and surely agree with everything you wrote here today. I have a call in just now to the Pentagon switchboard (I am on hold, listening to The Battle Hymn of the Republic). Thinking seriously of putting your name in the hat for Sec Def. You would be baller. Let me know what your feelings are on this . . . . .
On RFK jr eating McDonalds: the still photo showed him holding a burger. It is in the box it comes in and does not appear to be bitten. This is not evidence that he ate the McDonalds meal.
All are excellent criteria in this age of excess and salacious information. The decision making process to select the best candidate is narrow, sometimes obscure and multilevel. On the other hand, it's easy to pick someone for the wrong reasons, but Vinay's guardrails are very helpful.
Very thoughtful, Vinay. I have been opposed to RFK Jr. because of his opposition to forced vaccines including TdAP and MMR. These vaccines are optimally effective ONLY if the vast majority of children and, when appropriate as with pertussis in adults. His opposition has been based on highly defective opinions. When I think of the people who would surround him at HHS including many MDs, I am less worried. His name and his intent to shake things up in general with regard to health, preventative care, and Big Food, however, would be refreshing. I think that he would find the bureaucracy very frustrating. He arrived at the same conclusions as many of us with regard to the pandemic. I do not worry about an occasional adulterous event. He is a Kennedy after all. So I am considering supporting his nomination. It would be fascinating and fun to watch.

You are too much fun for the system. So you must keep them up.
Thank you for being a breath of reason in a media world of stinky hypocritical air.

One of your best. Looking forward to hearing some juicy scandals from Dr. Jay and Dr Marty's past :)
Note that in Varma's example, VP actually referred to it as "naked hypocrisy", probably an unexpected brilliant pun.
