from another substack writer, "faith in institutions and the credentialed class has been eviscerated.". Indeed it has. Thank you Dr. Prasad for continuing to write. It is imperative to have someone we can still trust.
Reason and logic have gone out the window. I live in a blue state and my employer (state agency) is now requiring that I get a booster. I have had covid and been vaccinated. This is where I draw the line. My children also have had covid and will not be getting the vaccine. I wholeheartedly agree that the damage this administration is doing to public trust in institutions will be devestating for years to come. A cosmic screw up indeed.
Clearly, the only reason Pfizer is doing this is to make sure that Comirnaty is covered by VICP, so that they are legally indemnified post-EUA. There is no other reason that makes any kind of business sense.
Exactly. And that should go away as well. Mainlining into our children with no recourse. That is not what public health is about. These are criminal organizations.
Channeling my inner Amish, it would take me a 911 emergency to get me inside a medical facility right now. Trust betrayed, when effective early solutions - and those professionals who suggested them - got canceled. Trust gone completely, with this systemic insistence on foisting this poison the young. That was the last straw.
This is why my child is not vaccinated and will never be. I have lost all faith in these institutions and that they have my or my family’s health as their priority. I was very pro vaccination until I began to understand the events that have unfolded since 1984. The corruption is horrendous, and this time they just aren’t even bothering to hide it.
My gut tells me they’re not pushing for this vax so they can unmask kids. I mean, the vax sure hasn’t led to unmasking adults! And everyone should realize that. Why, then, are they pushing for this vax so recklessly?
I’m glad they’re holding off now but I think it’s just all part of a nefarious strategy. We will have to stay tuned.
You are too kind ascribing some kind of benevolent intent. These people have known for 2 years - looking at Scandanavia and UK (no masks at school for the most part) and EU (no masks under 12) and the rest of the world (no masks under 6) that there is NOTHING THERE. The kids never needed masks, and never should have been in masks.
Indeed. I'm happy people are opening their eyes, finally, but I'll never get over that the scientific class, my peers, allowed themselves to be hypnotized by governments and fear. Extremely disheartening two years.
It's good to know that there is SOME limit to the debasement of approval processes and standards for political purposes.
I have become cynical enough to believe it's possible (if not likely) that the primary purpose of school mask requirements and other related hygiene theater has always been to coerce parents into vaccinating their children by dangling the possibility of a compliance-aided "return to normal" in front of them.
Is it true that manufacturers would be granted a broader form of legal immunity if these vaccines were to make it onto the childhood schedule? I've heard this, but I've also heard that vaccines are exempt from legal liability in general (and have been since the Reagan years), so I don't know what to believe.
They are exempt provided the vaccine applies to all ages -- it was a pediatric law for starters. That is why they are so desperate to get it approved for infants. We need to stop it under any circumstances. There is a whistleblower suit coming against Pfizer that is terrifying them (not sure how they found out about it but they have) that will be enlightening.
The liability exemption was grounded in the concept of "all ages" ?! That's interesting, never heard of that. Are you able to provide me some reading on that?
- Its not "going to be bad". It IS bad. Faith and trust has evaporated in major institutions
- The priority here is not their precious reputation. It is public health, which is currently being harmed by these institutions. The risk/reward for going after children is simply not there. I believe most policy makers are drunk on the notion that the vaccines have NO DOWNSIDES WHATSOEVER that jabbing away once, twice, three times, is just a question of trial and error until they get something politically appetizing.
- All is not lost. At some point the political pendulum will swing (ahem, November), and I wouldn't be surprised if the FDA, CDC, and other institutions wind up being broken up and put back together again. I don't actually see these entities surviving in their current form; and maybe that's a good thing
- I would like to see a students charter of rights come out of this. What schools & universities are doing and getting away with is shocking, I mean truly shocking, and to me is a crime worthy of jailtime at this point.
"we have the fate of all vaccines on the line." Lost me, I'll never take another. I was sort of thinking about the shingles and pneumo jabs - not happening, ever.
The FDA done fucked up - they let the marks see how the sausage is made.
I was considering the shingles one also, as I've had all the childhood illnesses as a child. But I like to be able to calculate my risk, and frankly, I've found the shingles data to be under-whelming. I'm just not moved by it.
"Americans need clear, simple, consistent vaccine advice. The advice should be honest and acknowledge scientific truth." So true.
Would love to read Dr. Prasad's thoughts on the following quote from the CDC's report released yesterday:
"Among persons hospitalized with COVID-19–like illness, 43% were unvaccinated, 45% had received 2 vaccine doses, and 12% had received 3 doses."
I thought the argument for vaccination now is that the unvaccinated are much more likely to be hospitalized than the vaccinated. But according to this 57% of the hospitalizations are fully vaccinated, only 43% unvaccinated!
The report is titled: Waning 2-Dose and 3-Dose Effectiveness of mRNA Vaccines Against COVID-19–Associated Emergency Department and Urgent Care Encounters and Hospitalizations Among Adults During Periods of Delta and Omicron Variant Predominance — VISION Network, 10 States, August 2021–January 2022
A recent analysis of VA data suggests that myocarditis has increased, potentially as a result of the vaccine. Infection can cause that as well. Safe is a relative term. Myocarditis is never mild, the heart has been damaged. Whether that is a serious concern depends on the individual. We need better therapeutics to fight the infection or a vaccine that has fewer side effects.
Biden's top science adviser just resigned (was fired?) because of abusive, out of control behavior ( https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-022-00375-1 ). FDA leadership needs to go for the same reason. Biden was supposed to give science back its good name. He needs to get rid of the pro-corporate hacks if he wants to succeed.
You forget that the REAL FDA leadership, in vaccines, doing their jobs for two decades, resigned in disgust in the fall because they were convinced that whatever science they had (in the instant case it was about boosters, but it has been building) made no difference -- in this administration, 100% of the decisions at the three letter organizations appear to be political. Resignations of the good have already been had. We need housecleaning of the rest.
I have been perplexed by the whole situation on all sides. I haven’t seen any of the data, but from my understanding of the initial statements from Pfizer, the vaccines proved effective in children 6m up to 2y. Why not just move forward with that age group and study an alternative dose in 2y up to 5? Like the dose used for 5y-11y? That seems kind of obvious. 6m to 2y are the most vulnerable besides very young infants. If anything, you would think they are in the greatest need of vaccines among all children. It doesn’t even seem to have been considered or discussed. Why are they insisting on arbitrarily keeping this age group together?

100%. I would rather die at home than risk setting foot in the nearest hospital…which happens to be Mayo Clinic
Ditto.

> We have far more at stake than just this vaccine — we have the fate of all vaccines on the line.
Not only all vaccines, but any new medical treatments, especially ones with potentially huge profits (oh hey there Aduhelm).

100% agree
