The CDC, AAP and public health officials need to tell parents to stop masking their kids
It's unethical to remain silent.
Recently I was on a flight and saw several families with children. Some kids were as young as 3. The parents had placed the child in one of these.
Let me be clear. The only reason anyone ever masked a child was because adults were suffering from cognitive rot. There was and is no evidence to justify masking kids, particularly very young kids. There is no study that shows child-masks adhere to the n95 standard for particle filtration. Finally, most kids in America have already had COVID. Shielding a health child from respiratory viruses is prima facie, unsound. 100% of kids will get COVID merely by living on planet earth. It is natural and inevitable that this happens, if the live long enough. Shielding a child that had covid is beyond silly.
Yet, in the US, two organizations did push masking toddlers. The American Academic of Pediatrics, who said this, and the CDC, which is mostly comprised of zoom employees, and zoom based leaders. These organizations clearly are not run by smart people. No smart person would ever make such an unfounded and obviously silly recommendation. Proof the organizations are run poorly…
Additionally, the makers of n95 and kf94 child masks should be prosecuted for false advertisement. They have no data that these masks adhere to these particle targets in kids. I would seek criminal, not just civil, charges. This is consumer fraud with implications that harm children.
Now, the same organizations that pushed toddler masking have a moral duty to advise the few parents silly enough to listen to them to stop. Its time these organizations actively put out statements saying that all healthy kids should never be masked. Otherwise, they risk a few parents continuing a harmful practice for years.
Masking kids was an error of judgment. At the very least, it is time for these organizations to reassure parents. If they do not, a poor 2 year old child will be masked on an airplane in 2027. What a horrible thing! In fact, it is worse than that.
To clarify, the AAP’s recommendation was not just stupid and silly, it was a knowing, deliberate lie - they wiped their own website of the pages they had extolling the importance of facial recognition/seeing smiling faces for baby’s development. Mens rea!!

Now you know why my substack motto is AAP Delenda Est!
It’s also a quasi- religious fetish.
