VP, you may have been at one time left of center, but you are now on the right side of center. The left has gone so far left that it has become what it once hated. Congratulations for not falling down that hole yourself.
The framing of left vs. right is complete bullshit at this point, frankly. The Ds are right wingers wrapped in a (fake) woke cloak.
Vinay is a principled liberal, which puts him at odds with people who've someone been swindled into believing that any illiberal/totalitarian approach necessary to sustain the power of the well-connected and politicians calling the shots (while pretending to care about common folk) is justified. What could be more dangerous to our society than the censorious mindset he is opposing? I vote for something approaching democracy. Passionately.
What is Musk really about? I don't know, but I'll take his changeup over the fastballs the other clowns are aiming at our heads any day.
I disagree. The media is not left of center. They are mostly Far left of center. They have become intolerant of differing opinions. The markers are clear. Rather than engage in civil debate in an open forum they label people as racist, Marxist, authoritarian. They are unwittingly using the tools from those same ideologies.
They are merely wielding a rebranded version of the same power, IMO. Nearly everything they tell us about important issues is twisted or blatantly false - why would their stated intents be honest? They (their funders, actually) want wealth and influence concentrated in as few hands as possible. This is the opposite of left-wing!
Dr Prasad, your unbiased approach to all topics is so refreshing in this day and age. So off topic but in any of my comments on your stacks, I have to include my request. You say you are left of center. Please, I would love to hear your convincing support for government run/sponsored universal healthcare (which I only assume you are for bc of your left leaning tendencies, I could be assuming wrong?). How would
It be affordable, not cause long wait times, not decrease quality of care provided and not decrease innovation in the world of research of disease and heath care? I would
love to hear a rationale mind explain this to me, and perhaps it would change my mind. I just don’t see it being practical or beneficial. I only ask because, again, you are logical
and practical (as well as uber intelligent) and I know you would not give a pie in the sky answer based on ideas of what utopia dreams are made of, as many far left liberals do. THANKS!
Very interesting. I don’t know much about Qaddafi and Libya. This video reminds me of much I have been reading in posts on Locals: F’ the WEF! There’s an elite cabal working against “we the people”.
Interestingly many Trump supporters have these views. They want our government to be what it was set up to be, a republic for the people by the people. Term limits would help this. But unfortunately humanity is plagued by greed and corruption, sin if you will. Even Bernie, when called out on why he didn’t just pay more in taxes voluntarily as a multimillionaire, would not give up most of his wealth and income when asked (Brett Baier and Martha McCallum interview/town hall- 2016 I believe)
I’ve seen that diagram before and have taken the quiz on the website politicalcompass.org
Me: I fell into the bottom right corner but closer to the middle of graph than I thought I would.
I’ll have to look into Qaddafi. Sounds kind of like Castro? Again, I think power corrupts and good intentions ( ie free healthcare, education, income…) go awry per our human nature. And imo, this type of ‘free everything’ leads to lazy men and the demise of a society.
Thanks for your reply and input. Still don’t know how free high quality healthcare is paid for. Sure as hell not by the govt if we look at the VA clinics/hospitals 🙄. Perhaps those insurance groups run by a small group of people where everyone pays in and they pay each others bills as they arise and are needed works well??
But I doubt this would work on a grand scale in a country as large as ours. Anyway, I’m rambling now and not sure if anything I’m saying is making sense.
“ Two, they just have a narrative they've constructed in their head, and they may or may not fully understand that the real motivation, but they are blindly chasing that narrative and ignoring any data that doesn't fit it. As such it is biased.”
I feel like we saw the same phenomenon recently on another topic, but I just can’t put my finger on it.... anyone?
Twitter and Facebook are the modern public square that could be treated legally as a public utility, and thus covered by the First Amendment. We have a legal process that handles fraud, liable, hate and incitement. Access to the public square should not be determined by "disinformation specialists" who seek to promote a particular narrative or ideology.
I think Elon Musk subscribes to the above. He deserves the support of everyone who cherishes free speech as the foundation of democracy. I'm ready to pitch in with $8 a month, if that's what it takes.
Even under Musk's new uncensored Twitter, Big Pharma cannot take a joke and got this deleted. It was well deserved. I had to pay $500 for a box of insulin for my cat!
Without moving an inch, you have become center or even center right. The same thing happened to me with the emergence and subsequent domination of the intellectually bankrupt woke philosophy.
I still hold many of my left leaning views but I had a mental inflammatory reaction to Critical Race Theory.
Totally agree. I’m shocked at how negative the reporting on Elon has been. It’s off the rails and hysterical. My only disagreement is that I think most media outlets are no longer left of center. They are far left. That’s why I now gets most of my news from substack authors.

I agree about the coverage...there are many who love to sniff for failure, especially of others. Here's hoping for all the best for him in his work!

If you would like to write your reply/thoughts I’d read them.

I dream of a day when Twitter is so popular that these virtue signaling advertisers try to come back on the platform. And Elon just tweets "NO" LOL.
Thank you for this. I may try Twitter in awhile.
I'm thinking of doing the same.

Elon is holding a poll on whether he should "step down" as head of Twitter. I just voted "NO" -- I'd like to see him stay on. Here's what I wrote:
