I can only hope that public health dies a very public death. In my decades of practice, never have I seen more abuse of the (some of us consider it sacred) "first do no harm" basis of medical practice as well as the foundational "this is between you and your doctor that knows something about YOU".

Public health has become nothing but a mouthpiece for regime change, pharma enrichment, and creeping government control over the rest of one's life. I, like you Vinay, have become much more strident about this over the past two years as the enormity of the hoax and the deception has become clear.

I have always thought public health should be important, but having seen what it can do, we are all better off with it being guillotined. We all would be healthier than what these despots would like to do to us all. Deborah Birx's new book notes that "we knew it wouldn't work but made you do it anyway ha-ha". And that says it all.

Good riddance to them all. I hope it happens and it could not happen fast enough.

Yes. 100000000000 percent. Anything ‘public’ ie: health, education, welfare, etc....eventually metastasizes like this. While all these things are GOOD, and experts are GOOD, the issue is one of sphere sovereignty!

He should fly to México, then entre by land. México does no require vax.

That would be fun.

Also could fly to Canada and cross by land, no vax required. The ridiculousness knows no bounds.

Canada requires vax before entering their country. But they also keep on changing the requirements.

Yes. Yes we do🤣🤣. But my understanding right now is that what’s keeping Canadians out of the US resident Biden, via land or air?

Are you sure this is the rule? That’s not how I read it. But I hope I’m wrong!!!

Nah you’re probably right!

Bummer🤣🤣

Yes, and he could get on one of the buses heading to NYC. That would be a story.

I hope you are right and that these arbitrary (and increasingly unscientifc) rules are ultimately unwound. Unfortunately, experience suggests that when we give governments new powers, they seldom relinquish them. They may suspend them, but they are always held in reserve and the encroachment on our freedoms continue.

Of course, if one protests, you're just an irrational anti-vaxxer who wants to kill grandma (for the record, I'm fully vaccinated, so I don't have a dog in this fight). All public debate is shut down. I'm both relieved and surprised that you haven't yet been cancelled, Vinay.

It does truly suck that Djokovic won't be able to play in the US for reasons that have as much to do with science as a 5 year old finger painter does to Picasso.

So much for critical thinking and evolving with the “science”….. When are the powers that be going to get the message that the vaccines don’t prevent transmission?

An unvaccinated US Citizen can enter the US but a non citizen cannot?

Wow, the frosting on the cake!

The intractable nature of those in charge is breathtaking. Maddening, ok, infuriating

Canada’s federal govt needs to read this. It’s a medical dictatorship here. Btw…love the new sun graphic on the substack. Reading your pieces is truly a ray of sun for this demoralised cdn. Thank you.

The boss delivers, yet again. Thank you.

What can we do. The men’s field without Djokovic is indeed one with an asterisk. Would the others players boycott? I think not. We/they continue to follow like sheep. Biden has recently extended the federal state of emergency. Are these actions not worthy of mass civil disobedience? Instead I’m sitting here writing this, preaching to the choir.

These idiots are going to bring back mandatory masking for kids. Like I mentioned before, the biggest impact is the utter lost of faith in CDC/FDA/Surgeon General (Surgeon Private, more like!). There is NOTHING they can do and say at this point that won't make me take a contrarian view.

Expand full comment

The administration is loaded with people who are extremely risk averse. They want to keep control of everything.

Expand full comment

I think "risk averse" is a charitable conclusion. I think they know people are sheep and they like to wield control.

I love how people still think if someone is unvaccinated it's like they're carrying the plague.

My mom attended a 20-person event. The hosts required vaccination proof, masks, and even a negative test beforehand.

One person ended up testing positive afterward.

Lol.

But then they will say "Well, it could've been worse if we didn't have these requirements."

I dunno ... I haven't had a positive case of covid (or at least any symptoms) since December 2021, and I've been pretty much maskless and haven't gotten any boosters. A ton of vaccinated maskers at work caught covid, and yet I was just fine, probably because I'd gotten it already over the holidays. (super mild symptoms, at that, yet my vaccinated coworkers were sick for a week or longer).

Indeed

Jefferson county public schools back with a mask mandate. Louisville, KY. The people responsible for harming our kids should get jail time. Anyone who spoke in favor of closing schools, masking or vaccinating kids should apologize publicly. Those of us who spoke out early against the insanity sleep soundly at night.

Keep wondering who this government is trying to protect the citizens of the US of A from? In the process, we get lesser tennis because the best player in the world can't get there. Sad day/month/year/trend/society.

Bureaucratic inertia along with a complete inability to admit error has doomed trust in public health officials. They act like politicians but we pay for their expertise. We are not being advised well.

"They mean this years tennis match will have an asterisk . . . . "
