Should we just stop talking about COVID19?
It just fuels a few fearful people fighting the last war
Recently I was driving in SF and saw a man on a theatrical bicycle wearing an N95 mask. When he turned the corner, he removed his mask, only to reveal a SECOND mask underneath. This was outside on JAN 17 2024!
I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. This person is clearly fighting the last war. He is at best hopelessly misinformed. At worst, he may need the guidance of a mental health professional.
Getting COVID is inevitable. It is just another cold or flu like illness. Masks don’t work. They don’t work outside. No one gets COVID outside. We will all get COVID many times over in our long lives…
I don’t know where to begin with how illogical double masking outside is. It is like praying to the Cat God.
Recently, I was chatting with a colleague who advised me to stop talking about COVID19 and stop all research on the topic.
He said, “These people are wrong and delusional. They are out of touch with reality. Normal people don’t care about COVID anymore. They have forgotten. The more you talk about it, the more you validate that it is something worth talking about. We shouldn’t test for it, or do anything about it. Long COVID is functioning primarily to earn hospitals money from their dubious clinics. The best thing we can do is to move on with life.”
This hit me like a brick.
Because I recently tweeted the 20 papers I have written on COVID19. Available here for free.
But as I thought about it, I realized he might be right.
Would it be best if we just stopped talking about COVID19?

Having said that, its important to remember that it was likely a lab leak, masks don’t work, mandates didn’t work, vaccines were not needed in people who had COVID, nor children, closing school was a human rights violation, masking kids didn’t work, vaccine mandates were unethical, vaccine passports were useless, boosters don’t have good data, paxlovid doesn’t have good data, long COVID is overblown, etc.. These are obvious things to those of us who can read. The CDC lied repeatedly, and all the employees at CDC and AAP who told us to cloth mask 2 year olds should be fired for stupidity.
Now that I have that off my chest, you tell me: let it go?

Stop talking about covid the disease? Sure. (other than the occasional debunk of fearmongering)
Stop talking about the reaction to covid? No way.
Until public health officials (as opposed to ordinary people who were duped) acknowledge they were wrong and apologize. AND promise not to do this shit again, we can’t stop talking about it.
