When I read the title, I thought this was satire and that the Fauci Award is a satirical disgrace award.

And she is an appropriate recipient.

My immediate reaction to the Fauci Award was that this is an insulting gesture, not a real award.

You are correct. The problem is that these people (using the term loosely) only exist in their own echo chambers so they view it as a real award. The rest of us are with Vinay.

What’s next? The Dick Cheney Peace Prize?

They have to double down. Just wrote about it here, and about the only way to fix it. The problem is Fauci and co believe they are the truth, they are authority incarnate. It’s an age old egotistical delusion and brings chaos every time. Only way to solve it is to humble yourself and realize the truth is outside of and above you. As Augustine wrote over a millennia ago:

“If we both see that what you say is true, and if we both see that what I say is true, where, I ask, do we see it? I surely do not see it in you, nor do you see it in me, but we both see it in that unalterable Truth that stands above our minds.”

There is a nifty derivative here too: "If two people disagree about the solution to some problem called "X" (one says that the solution is A and the other says that its B), they cannot both be right, but they can both be wrong".

Great read, Dr. Gaty

Woah...woah, woah! Dr. Prasad, I would appreciate a trigger warning. I vomited a little bit just now.

At this point, no one is going to jail so I have two choices. Let them leave in my head rent free, or just deal with it. However, I will invoke an old Korean proverb. "You don't walk around $hit because you're afraid of it" The hail mary is that Robert Kennedy gets to clean house via MAHA.

Rochelle "we just don't see a signal" Walensky. Remember when she went on TV crying about how scared she was? It was all so deranged.

This just gave me a very unpleasant vision of our current VP as P crying in Putin’s office.

Once again, Vinay, you’re 100% correct! I’m with some commenters who said this “award “ exists merely to reverberate in the echo chamber of their own creation. What kind of organization is this anyway? Yes public health is in a bad way, and the field is doing nothing to change perception. If anything it’s getting worse with the MAHA movement and the exposure by RFK, Jr, Calley Means, Casey Means and others of the failures with regard to food policy and healthcare policy among others. It’s time to get it all out in the open, break it down, and build something much better and actually public health promoting.

Another event that backs up what your fellow pod caster said a few years ago. If you think public health officials will go away, you are wrong. They like the attention too much. Give awards to get publicity even if nonsensical.

If you think about it, her actions are perfectly consistent with an award named after Fauci. Maybe the bigger issue is that a Fauci award exists in the first place.

The Fauci Award is actually perfect for her.

As a former musician who has played on Grammy winning albums and has been to the Grammys, this “award” reminds me OF the Grammys - just people tugging at each others’, er, egos, and slapping each other on the back telling each other how great they are. Took awhile to get into the real world to realize nobody that truly matters really cares.

Yep, pure propaganda. I will never ever forget this

Haha, what a joke!! Like a criminal organization giving a “good citizen award” to one of their leaders. Do these people not have anything better to spend their time on?!?

And don’t forget Fauci’s undoubted involvement in the dangerous gain of function research, and when the Obama Administration told him to stop it, how he had other labs in Wuhan continue the research and he directly funded it through some of the other organizations he was directing funds to. He is likely directly responsible in major ways for the pandemic!

Haha, we should call it the "Al Capone Award"

Of interest: I received my first(and only) booster at a site arranged at RW's synagogue. She happened to be there that morning, helping her friend to supervise the process. Although she was masked (as was required for all of us) she did not maintain any social distance at all -- in fact, for awhile, she was jammed among a cluster of people at the registration table -- people all pressed against one another the way people normally are, who are all trying to register at the same time around a small table, As someone who had herself ignored social distance for some months, I actually took some comfort by her seeming ease. This all took place in 2021.

Step 1 to recovery for public health is transparency. Step 2 is honesty. Step 3 is to end censorship.
