Unfortunately the main reason any of the Senators won’t vote for Kennedy is they are deep in the pockets of Big Pharma, Big Food, Big Ag and Big Medicine. Those are the deciders, not the will of the people nor the logic of science.
I’m surprised that you, Dr.Prasad, have bought into the false legacy media story about RFK, Jr and the polio vaccine. I highly recommend listening to Tucker Carlson’s interview with Aaron Siri, an attorney who has represented RFK, Jr, on other matters not related to the polio vaccine. Apparently Mr. Siri is representing a group who is suing the manufacturer of one of six currently available polio vaccines. They are now asking in their suit for this particular polio vaccine to be taken off the market until safety studies are run. The media has conflated this with RFK, Jr. While he may agree that this one of six available vaccines be taken off the market while studies are run, he is in no way connected to this lawsuit. The only connection is Aaron Siri. In the interview Mr. Siri explains why his client wants this to be studied more and it makes perfect sense. He goes into detail about how this suit came to be and it was only after requesting information for over two years and getting nowhere did his client decide to pursue this route. Mr. Siri explains all of this in the first 30 minutes or so of the interview so you don’t even have to watch the whole thing. Please get the real story before saying RFK, Jr is trying to take away anyone’s ability to access a polio vaccine, as apparently even if this one is taken off the market, there are still five other options available.
Its bizarre he brought up polio..must keep up appearances for the Big Pharma trolls..u can say whatever u like here..he doesnt bother to read any comments
Yes I have heard that he doesn’t read comments but was hoping he would get the message somehow that the polio issue is completely a fabrication by the legacy media sparked by a NYT article I believe. I am a huge fan of Dr. Prasad and am grateful to him for many things connected to freedom of speech, masking, school closures, and other horrible and damaging policies he has been very vocally opposed to when it wasn’t convenient for him or comfortable for him to express these views. He seems to do his homework which is why this was surprising to me. We’re all human and make errors. I want him to know the actual facts.
Good. Fact is way too many resources have been invested, and wasted, in contagions versus health. It's in fact become an unhealthy obsession. The idea of "disease eradication" is silly. The vast majority of human ailments are lifestyle/corporate consequences.
He definitely the best we have for the job right now. With Dr. Jay and Dr. Makary as heads of CDC and FDA, he can really assemble a fantastic team. I’m hopeful.
"While infectious disease is one aspect of health, we cannot forget that a much larger driver of life years lost in America is chronic disease catalyzed by poor diet, exercise and potentially exacerbated by exposure to dubious and ubiquitous chemicals and plastic products"
True, but, the measurable consequences of infections disease have been massively mitigated by vaccines. I am a massive proponent of reform at the FDA, etc. as well as addressing the causes of chronic disease & obesity, but I think you are far too inclined to place trust in RFK in prospect of tackling these issues. You seem to unscrupulously create excuses for him and place an inordinate amount of trust in a man who has consistently exhibited twisted views and dishonestly concerning well established medicine (and, who, do not forget, is also a politician, as against the grain as he is from the mainstream).
RFK Exposing pharma wrongdoings has no effect, doctors just keep prescribing POS technology filling pharma bank accounts.
Nothing can be done to fix the situation, too many doctors believe fda approval really means something or worse they are on the take.
Nothing can save the people from this modern day snake oil. Billions in healthcare dollars are being funneled to crooked companies in places like Switzerland.
It's too bad about RFK he seems to understand but his message is diluted because of his stance on other issues.
If industrial chemicals are so harmful why does everyone live so long?
How do we shame doctors into stopping their support of pharma ripoffs? Patients certainly can't challenge them
Indeed. At the risk of getting some doctors reading this upset, most doctors don't think much, they just react. They have limited exposure to real medical studies and just quote the usual JAMA, etc., garbage. They have a poor grasp on the corruption of the journals, FDA approved meds, CDC, NIH, etc. Worst, they did very little while we created a crime against humanity in regard to all things Covid. And as you said, they feed pharma. I fight with MD colleagues all the time when they RX "new" meds, that might cost $300/mo, rather than the original med that is now generic and much cheaper. They believe all the hype.
I know more about healthcare than my own PCP. I get stared at when I ask for scripts for APOB or APOA, as if they have no idea why that's important. But if I had a high blood fat level, I'd get RX for a statin almost from muscle memory. Regardless of the political and economic pressures, doctors should feel obligated to put the patient first. I learned from the Covid experience the deep-seated cowardice of most doctors. I disagree with your last comment though. Patients can challenge doctors, they just refuse to do so directly. They can (and have), vote for politicians that will fight on their behalf.
The goal of the Medical Industrial Complex is PROFIT.
The best road to profits is extending death decades beyond nature (yes some freaks of nature live long on their own).
So 90% of our "healthcare" is now geriatrics.
THAT is why we "live" (die) longer.
And yes social sanitation has helped, but when "prevention" becomes safetyism, is it really worth it?
In the old days before the germ theory, they thought all disease came from within. They were wrong about the germs, but they were right about the big picture.
We're going to get some polio back but it will certainly be vaccine derived polio. Oral polio vaccine is the source of all cases of polio outside of Afghanistan and Pakistan and has caused 1000s of cases of paralytic polio including the one in NY. Our best protection is to replace OPV with IPV in all these countries.
Don’t forget the trillions wasted on scam “Genomics”- thanks to Frances Collins—useless mapping of “human genome!” trillions wasted..”sequencing” idiocy “pCR “idiocy. “use of bullshit surrogate endpoints” idiocy all of it bamboozle
Infectious diseases have always been seen as more interesting than mundane chronic diseases that take really hard work across multiple sectors. Government programs focus on the low hanging fruit: combating and preventing viruses etc over shifting to healthier food. Perhaps RFK jr can change that.
More and more I begin to suspect that Dr.P is always in audition mode for some high level public health position. He needs to straddle the line between "tough" criticism and respectful deference to expertise because he (seems) to subscribe to the theory of "better expert = better results" -- and he hopes to be that better expertise. I would rather see such criticism signal that he's coming to realize that bureaucratic systems are, ultimately, self-insentivized for centralized power, diminishing dynamic disagreement and - thusly - the inevitable mediocre results for any collective problem solving. Dispersal of decision-making powers *away* from distant and insulated "experts" might not be in Dr. Ps wheelhouse.

Let's focus on those.
He’s our only hope!

Polio?
Seriously..?
Is there some planned increase in arsenic based sprays to start another polio problem?

I believe Dr. Cifu described this as sane-washing.

"If industrial chemicals are so harmful why is everyone so sick and living so long"..
Fixed..
And you somehow switched from big Pharma to Big Agriculture..and doctors are part of the problem. Its complacent and docile consumers as well...

"I suspect also partisan politics and groupthink play a large role."
Yes. In fact the polio narrative *is* an example of such groupthink. Kennedy cannot any will not end polio vaccination.
